CODE_QUEENS CONFERENCE INFORMATION
Code_Queens is a youth STEM conference run by girls, for girls. Hosted at Nokia's Ottawa Campus on December 5th, our mission is to reimagine the culture for the next generation of young women entering STEM.

Event Mandate
1) Target girls in middle school (grades 7-8) before they lose interest in a career pathway related to STEM, and enable them to choose high school courses to pursue it.
2) Provide insight into life as a woman engineer, shattering common misconceptions about coding: that it's boring, a desk job only, and a 'boys club'.
3) Equip girls with the skills to pursue a STEM career, from programming in Python to planning, designing, and wireframing a solution to a technical problem

Event Outline
1) Morning session with yoga to engage the girls, a two-hour Intro to Python Programming workshop, and a keynote speaker from Shopify with an inspiring message on overcoming the challenges for a woman entering STEM.
2) Catered lunch 'connection session' held conference style, meeting women in engineering from Nokia who'll share their advice and listen to the girls' perspectives on STEM.
3) Afternoon tech challenge presented by Nokia, introducing wireframing and design concepts to the girls, and a final pitch fair, with top three teams earning prizes.
