Your Story: MASC's Teen Authors & Illustrators Conference

‘Your Story’ will be held on Friday February 10, 2017 at the Confederation Learning Centre, 1645 Woodroffe Avenue, in Ottawa. Students in grades eight to twelve are invited to sign up for a day of hands-on creative workshops led by some of Canada’s finest authors and illustrators of teen literature. Many thanks to the support of our event sponsor Leacross Foundation and the Ottawa Carleton District School Board.

	NEW TEEN PROGRAM at the University of Ottawa: The Wearable Technology Club (Voir version française plus bas.) The Faculty of Engineering Outreach team is now offering a Wearable Technology Club for all, and for girls only, this winter. The winter clubs will be completely different from the fall clubs. Registration is now open! Limited space only!  Targeting girls and boys in grades 7-10, this bilingual educational initiative provides a great introduction into various technologies such as: 3D printing, laser cutting, and Arduino programming. Taught by engineering students, these Saturday clubs will give students the opportunity to design a wearable device using electrical circuits, Arduino and other devices. Each Saturday the teens will work on different components of their wearable project. The clubs are offered in two different settings, the Wearable Technology Club for all and the Wearable Technology Club for girls. Please note that the curriculum is the same for the Club for girls and the Club for all. Language: All clubs are offered in a bilingual setting Grades: Grade 7-10 Dates: Every Saturday from February 4th - April 1st inclusive (with the exception of March 18th, due to March Break) Hours: Wearable Technology Club for All 1:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Wearable Technology Club for Girls 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Location: The drop-off and pick-up takes place inside the main entrance of the SITE building at 800 King Edward Avenue. Les clubs d'hiver seront complètement différents des clubs d'automne. Les inscriptions sont maintenant ouvertes! Les places sont limitées!! Spécialement conçu pour les filles et les gars de la 7e à la 10e année, cette nouvelle série de clubs bilingues offrira aux participants une introduction à différentes technologies, comme par exemple: l’impression 3D, la découpe laser, et la programmation d’Arduino. Enseignés par des étudiants en génie, ces clubs du samedi donneront aux adolescents l’opportunité de concevoir un dispositif portatif utilisant des circuits électriques, la programmation Arduino et autres technologies. Chaque samedi, les adolescents travailleront sur différentes composantes de leur projet portable.
